IT'S A FREE NEW WORLD

Posted6/25/2008@10:02 AM

It is truly a free new world. First Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails blew up the paid model. Now Coldplay.

In their first week, it looks like Coldplay will go on to SELL almost 700,000 copies of their new album "Viva La Vida."

However, they started with a free download of "Violet Hill." They then announced a free show at Madison Square Garden in New York to promote their new album.

Even though the music industry is down 11% from last year, Coldplay is not.

Consider the free option and find new wins.

I WILL C WALL-E

I'm really looking forward to seeing Wall-E. I'm planning on taking my kids this weekend while we are in San Diego.

In my mind, Pixar can do no wrong.

Also, I love the retro movie posters that they have created for the marketing of the film.

GEORGE CARLIN

Controversial and throught provoking. I will miss George Carlin and statements like this.

"If there's ever a golden age of mankind, it will not include men over two hundred pounds beating children who are less than one hundred pounds, and it will not include the deliberate killing of people in a formal setting."

CARROT TOP AND COMMUNICATORS

I was thinking about different communicators and their preferred style in delivering a talk.

Some are CARROT TOP COMMUNICATORS. These guys like to use stage props and base their messages around a particular item. An umbrella, a door,a goat, or whatever might work to help an idea stick.

Some are STEVE JOBS COMMUNICATORS. These folks like to use slides or powerful visuals. They are often seen with a clicker in their hand.

Another category would be OBAMA COMMUNICATORS. These are the guys that are great orators with an inspiring message. They simply talk and people love it.

Which do you prefer?

You know how sometimes when you look at something so incredibly beautiful you think it is fake.

When my wife sent me these pictures this morning I kept looking at them wondering if these were real or not.

Check out these absolutely stunning pictures from the latest Space Shuttle mission.

MAD CHURCH DISEASE

I am really looking forward to Anne Jackson's new book Mad Church Disease. First off, Anne is an amazing person with a very important message. Secondly, the issue she is tackling is so important.

Mad Church Disease is a lively, informative, and potentially life-saving resource for anyone in ministry—vocational or volunteer—who would like to understand, prevent, or treat the epidemic of burnout in church culture.

MUSIC I LIKE RIGHT NOW

Posted6/14/2008@8:31 AM

I downloaded the new Alanis Morissette album this week. It's good and I really like it.

But I actually like the new Charlotte Sometimes album better. I downloaded it a couple weeks ago in Itunes. Catchy songs with strong(possibly offensive) lyrics.

I think you will like it. If you don't then...well...Paul Baloche has a new album out too.
